YogaFest

About

YogaFest is a four-day weekend hosted by Song of the Morning Yoga Retreat in northern Michigan that invites all yoga-lovers and spiritual seekers to gather and engage with one another. The 2021 festival was unique as Covid-19 was still a pressing concern for in-person events, causing YogaFest to scale back from its typical 600-person attendance to 150. The festival was also livestreamed on a donation-basis via YouTube to over 2,000 people across the world.

My Role

I became the festival coordinator in early 2021 along with my other role as Digital Media Manager at Song of the Morning. Along with managing the event logistics, I created digital assets for use in marketing and print.

Design Focus:

  • Logo Design
  • Branding & Marketing
  • Illustration
  • Print & Video Assets

Tools:

  • Illustrator
  • InDesign
  • Photoshop
  • Canva

Logo Design

The purpose of this logo was to create a consistent brand for the festival based off a previous design. I created a simplified logo with a few variations for use across YogaFest's website and social media.

Shirt & Alt Logo Design

As festival coordinator, I wanted a graphic separate from the logo for use in the program guide and t-shirt - orginally sketched on paper (see below) and inspired by the groovy 70s era. The organization requested the design include its name with no date, thus the variation for the t-shirt.

Program Guide

A 26-page printed pamphlet that goes out to all festival attendees, volunteers and presenters. I designed the layout and graphics while collaborating with others on the copy. With a lot of information to share, I focused on providing white space and sectioning to ease the reading flow.

Festival Map

A passion project for me, the festival map was a fun opportunity to express the playfulness of the festival while providing accurate geographical locations for attendees. In the past, the organization has struggled to create a map that is visually-appealing and informative - my goal was to design something the festival can use each year.

Social Media Campaign

An important part of my role as festival coordinator included marketing the event via Facebook, Instagram, and email newsletters. For the marketing campaign, I used Canva to create posts using a consistent color palette and photos from past years to invoke the soul of the festival to the audience (courtesy of Song of the Morning Yoga Retreat).
